No Smoke Without Fire

So, I have returned to the scene. The memories flood back. I stand at Conwy castle and look out to the challenge that lies before everyone tomorrow. The swirling mists rise like smoke. The Dragon's stirring!

It is a truly wonderful place to be but I can't help feeling some apprehension, a nervous excitement...and I'm not even doing the race!

Today, I'm heading out from the castle, over the early peaks of the race. The weather is poor, with high winds, so we'll see how much painting I'll manage out there but I'll be finding the best positions, sketching out the scenes and getting shots to work from.

There will be fire. It will be a great race and I can't wait to witness it and capture it on canvas.
