Enjoying a bit of better weather - Rhinog Fach & Llyn Hywel

It's been a fantastic couple of weeks, as artist in residence at the Dragons Back Race and then back home getting lots of interest in the paintings and prints.

Thank you Wales for the awesome landscapes and, of course, the Welshcakes!

Also thank you to the runners who supported me en route and those who have bought prints and paintings since. Once again, thanks to Shane and Ourea Events for inviting me to join them on this adventure.

It's difficult being an artist, putting your work out there and exposing yourself to criticism. We all have different tastes and preferences, so I recognise that my art will not be for everyone but I'm really pleased with the positive response to this recent collection.

The intention with my art is to experience everything that I paint, to live and breath it before I paint it. I have competed in the Dragon's Back Race and was again there this year on those horrible days in the Welsh mountains, with the heavy rain and wind, the rivers and streams in spate and the dark clouds overhead. I saw those gnarly runners coming through, battling against the elements. I heard their groans and swearing and I saw them come into camp exhausted, battered and bruised.

This experience, these conditions and emotions, I try to capture and express on canvas and I hope that when someone buys a painting or print, that they place it on the wall and that it evokes a feeling and a memory that is otherwise difficult to reproduce.

A photograph may capture where you have been, but a painting also captures how it felt.

Thank you for the ongoing support of all of my subscribers and followers, I really appreciate your interest and feedback.

See you on the tops or in the bogs.

Elaine.
