A brighter start but eventually beaten by the rain and midges.
So this was my beautiful spot for the day:

Looking towards Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach, across Llyn Hywel
The weather held up long enough to get some paint on and see runners coming through. I actually love these moody skies for my paintings but trying to paint en plein air for these is a big challenge. A lot of my paintings have troubled skies because that's often how it is when running and racing in Britain. However, painting in my studio, from memories and photos of my runs is far less pressured and I don't need to run 10 miles up a mountain to get to my studio each day! It is beautiful out there and I'm always filled with a sense of wonder, no matter how many times I go up and whatever the weather.

It was a long day on the top, followed by a run back to camp to be welcomed by some chips and a shower. Refreshed, I cracked on with more 'en camp' painting until the daylight faded.

Looking forward to tomorrow but the forecast is not great, so we'll see what I can do up there. If nothing else, I hope to cheer on lots of runners and enjoy the freedom once more.
Elaine.
