NEW - Great Gable, Kirk Fell and Pillar

I completed the Bob Graham Round (anti-clockwise) in 2018. I loved it. I loved training on the fells, on my own or with friends. It opened up a whole new and exciting world of running adventures. Ever since then, I have wanted to paint this view from Windy Gap, looking out to Pillar. It is the point where it starts to feel more remote and quiet, with fewer walkers or runners and I feel a sense of peace with the fells/nature/the world around. It provides an escape.

It is at this point that I remember my good friend Mike, who shared his knowledge and skills of the fells and helped me on my mission to complete the BG. It is also on Great Gable that a ceremony has been held every Remembrance Sunday since 1924 to honour members of the Fell and Rock Climbing Club (FRCC) and others who died in World War I and subsequent conflicts. So this point provides much to reflect on and equally then much to hope for in the future. There is hope for better days and to passionately and respectfully continue in the footsteps of those who have gone before. In my BG, this was the point where legs were still fresh and I was excited and full of optimism, still raring to get the next summit and the next and the next. I felt great and with the brilliant support around me and the training in my legs, I was feeling positive about finishing and in a good time.

Below are my two new paintings capturing these memories and hopes on canvas.

I hope that you enjoy these as much I loved painting them and remembering the journey.
