Capturing the very beautiful, classic view across Blea Tarn towards the Langdale Pikes: Pike of Stickle and Harrison Stickle. It is framed to the right by Lingmoor Fell and to the left by Pike O'Blisco.

The Landscape and Inspiration

This spot is popular with seasoned hikers and weekend walkers, often climbing up from Dungeon Ghyll. I have run these fells many times, with always a different view and a different feeling accompanying each run. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹In particular, runners competing in the Lakeland 100, pass this point and, if there is enough daylight, may feel compelled to look back and witness this beautiful vista. The inspiration comes easily here. The motivation to paint, is to remember those moments and share that feeling. As Wainwright said about The Langdales, "The precious moments of life are too rare, too valuable to be forgotten".

A Closer Look

This painting was sketched out in my mind and then created in the studio. I wanted it to be bold and colourful, reflecting the changes of autumn and the richness of experiencing those moments.

In Your Home

When you buy any of the original paintings, I will consult with you about your framing preferences. I usually recommend a floating/tray frame for my paintings. White, black, charcoal grey or oak are the most common choices. These are open grained solid wood frames professionally crafted by Seasons Gallery & Framing of Durham.
